past tense

surrounded by your fear
in a dream
I made stories to take
your place there
was no other way
too much of the morning
and you were already gone

I still remember you
your fear
a chinese dynasty
many sad deceptions
are owed you
my body rebels
at the answers
I am sick
at the beginning of June
I am losing some parts
of myself to the stories
I told you

in another time
you drowned in the water
I gave you presents
we refused to talk
the others told lies

Once again, Alison Gaughan. In typing this up I was struck by the truth of the statement "I made stories to take/your place there." I think I did that for years, really.
