dragon's blood
twists the mean spine
the closed book
cracks huge dreams
in the slow lizard's
chipped belly
you and your fantasy
girl, the princess
of pure blessing—
yin yanged to dark
cold sorceress
you in another bed
the sake of knowing
the curious redemption
found hidden
in the beaded purse
of your heart
damask, darling
shrouding what is left
of me
of me
darling—damask
in disaster's window
dragon slain
castle repaired
you're safe
This poem speaks to the failed and illegal relationship in 1979. I am, of course, the dragon here.
